Job Overview

The Director Refinery Optimization is responsible for developing and implementing optimization strategies to enhance the efficiency, profitability, and sustainability of refinery operations. This role involves utilizing advanced analytical tools and techniques, including linear programming models, to improve process performance, optimize production planning, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that optimization efforts align with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Optimization Strategy Development:
    • Design and implement optimization strategies to improve refinery operations, including feedstock selection, product blending, and process unit performance.
    • Utilize linear programming (LP) and other advanced modeling techniques to develop and maintain refinery optimization models.
  2. Growth Project Investments
    • Identify projects that increase net margin at the facility through analysis of refinery constraints, margin analysis and capital evaluation
    • Work across functions (engineering, operations, commercial) to develop business plans for capital project execution
  3. Technical Support:
    • Provide technical support and expertise to refinery operations, troubleshooting optimization-related issues and implementing corrective actions.
    • Develop and maintain documentation related to optimization models, methodologies, and best practices.
  4. Production Planning:
