Job Overview
The Director, Refining Strategy holds a pivotal role in our refining company, tasked with spearheading the implementation of a standardized operating platform to drive systematic improvements across Entara’s refining sites. This multifaceted role involves creating and implementing a corporate standard approach, conducting workforce training on competitiveness metrics, establishing ambitious multi-year targets for site competitiveness, and diligently overseeing the asset improvement program.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Developing Corporate Standard Approach:
- Craft and implement a comprehensive corporate standard approach for refining assets, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate the standard approach seamlessly into existing operations.
- Workforce Training on Competitiveness Metrics:
- Design and execute training programs for site personnel, fostering a deep understanding of competitiveness metrics and their role in enhancing overall asset performance.
- Establish ongoing learning initiatives to keep the workforce abreast of evolving industry trends and technologies.
- Setting Site Competitiveness Multi-Year Targets:
- Define, communicate, and monitor ambitious multi-year targets for site competitiveness in collaboration with site leadership teams.
- Utilize data-driven insights and benchmarking against industry standards to set realistic yet challenging performance goals.
- Stewarding the Asset Improvement Program:
- Oversee the implementation of the asset improvement program, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and strategic goals.
- Regularly evaluate refining gaps against competitive peer benchmarks in manufacturing performance, operational availability, Health Safety Environmental (HSE), fixed manufacturing costs, and other critical business areas.
- Provide strategic guidance to address identified gaps and continuously optimize asset performance.
- Performance Analysis and Reporting:
- Implement robust performance analysis methodologies to track and report on key performance indicators.
- Regularly communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior management, fostering transparency and accountability.
Qualifications & Attributes
- BS Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or Related Sciences
- Refining Experience (10 + years); prior background working in refining
- Writes clearly and precisely; speaks tactfully and convincingly; listens well; shares work related information freely.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change, in management systems and culture
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, confident, and decisive in emergency or crisis situations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
