Alan brings a wealth of global HR leadership experience spanning over two decades, with expertise in supporting complex organizations across energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors.
Alan’s Experience
Alan, a British national born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland, holds a BA Honors Degree in Business and an MSc in Personnel Management from The Robert Gordon University. His career began at BAE Systems in 1997 before he joined Shell’s Exploration and Production business in Aberdeen in 2001. Over his 18 years at Shell, Alan held a variety of HR leadership roles, HR Manager at Convent Refinery in Louisiana, VP HR for Exploration in Shell’s Upstream Americas businesses based in Houston, as well as VP HR Talent & Development for Shell’s Global Functions, based in The Hague, The Netherlands.
Beyond Shell, Alan has led HR strategy at industry-leading organizations, including De Beers, where he was Head of HR for Corporate and Technical Functions, and latterly at Tullow Oil, where he served as Group Head of HR and Reward. His expertise in talent management, executive leadership, and strategic workforce planning makes him a valuable addition to Entara’s asset and commercial management services.
