Patrick Darby joins Entara as Director of Refining Optimization, bringing over 30 years of demonstrated success in operational excellence, commercial strategy, and team leadership across the refining, procurement, and market intelligence sectors

LIBERTY CORNER, N.J. — [4th Nov 2024] Patrick’s career has been marked by his strategic leadership, devotion to operational safety, and innovative process implementation. Previously, he was the Manager of Category Management & Market Intelligence at Phillips 66, where he led a team managing $3 billion annually across services, catalysts, chemicals, and materials. He contributed to potential savings of $400 million through business transformation and enhanced market intelligence reports that guided C-suite decisions and supported critical earnings calls.

Before this role, Patrick served as the Production (Operations) Manager at Ponca City Refinery, one of the largest refineries in the U.S. He earned two Distinguished Safety Awards, the highest honor for safety performance from the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), by promoting a culture of operational reliability and safety excellence. Under his guidance, the refinery achieved sustained business improvements of $350 million annually and top third performance in industry benchmarks, including safety, reliability, and financial results.

Patrick’s expertise also includes global optimization; he previously held the position of Global Optimization Manager at Phillips 66. He was instrumental in developing price forecasting models and fostering collaboration between commercial and refining teams, contributing $250 million in annual value. His ability to bridge technical and commercial interests optimized operations and bolstered the company’s bottom line. In earlier positions as HQ Refining Optimization Manager and Division Manager of Optimization and Business Analysis, he drove combined annual margin improvements of $650 million, highlighting his extensive know-how in refining optimization, crude valuation, and product modeling.
